Christian Altenburger
is an internationally sought-after soloist, well-known chamber musician, festival director and outstanding pedagogue.
Today, Christian Altenburger is not only an internationally sought-after soloist, but also an equally esteemed and well-known chamber musician, teacher and festival director.
His career initially seemed to be heading towards the glorious solitude, the “splendid isolation” of the great soloist. At the age of 16, he left his hometown of Vienna to study with Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School in New York. This was quickly followed by performances all over the world: solo concerts with many of the most important conductors and orchestras in Europe and the USA.
Christian Altenburger began his teaching career as a professor at the Hanover University of Music and Drama. In 2001, he was appointed to the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where he has since taught a class in violin performance.
